In a glittering function at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, India’s President Pranab Mukherjee distributed the National Toursim Awards for 2013-14.
Recognizing the importance of the tourism industry in not only activly participating in creating ‘Brand India’, but also in generating valuable foreign exchange for the country, the President lauded the sector.
Among the awardees, Gujarat won the best award for Tourism Development, Towns of Khargone in M.P., and Tranquebar in T.N. for best civic management, Disability Friendly Monument – Bhojpur Temple, M.P., Habibganj Railway station in M.P. for toursit friendly railway station, IGI Airport Delhi, etc.
Among the hotels, The Oberoi Delhi, Samode Haveli, Jaipur, Coconut Lagoon, Kerala, etc. in the 5 star category, and Resorte Marinha, Goa, Marari Bech, Kerala, Taj Vivanta, Kumarakom, Kerala, etc..
Awards were also presented to travel agencies, forex agencies, and others associated with the Travel and Tourism sector.
