The former party president has celebrated 10 million followers in Amethi

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited Amethi to meet the party workers. This is his first visit after defeat fromUnion minister Smriti Irani in Amethi constituency in Lok Sabha election.

Present MP from Wayanad who recently resigned from the position of Party President visited Gauriganj and met Tiloi’s assembly in-charge Mata Prasad Vaish and paid condolences to the family whose relative died recently.  He also met the leaders and party office bearers at Nirmala Devi Educational Institute in Gauriganj.

Before reaching Amethi, Mr Gandhi’s follower count on Twitter reached 10 million. He thanked all his followers and had said that he will celebrate the milestone in Amethi with the Congress workers and supporters.

He also wrote on Twitter that coming to Amethi feels like home and shared pictures of his meeting with the party workers.

IIn the meeting he said “Relation between him and his last won constituency is personal not political. Defeat and Victory are a part of life but I will never leave Amethi”.

The visit has come at a time when Congress is going through leadership and political crisis. CWC (Congress Working Committee) hasn’t been able to find someone to lead the party after Gandhi resigned from it.  Congress is also struggling to handle the political crisis in Karnataka where 9 MLAs recently resigned from the party which may cost them the government.

Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in the historic poll battle in the recent general election from Amethi. The Union Minister defeated Rahul by more than 52,000 votes which was previously won by Rahul in 2004.
