Rajiv Gandhi, former PM name came in Bofors scam
Narendra Modi attacked Rahul Gandhi and Congress saying that the former prime minister of India Rajiv Gandhi’s life ended as “Corrupt Number 1”. He launched a blistering attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi saying that all the Rafale allegations were to corrode his stature.
The Prime Minister was in UP for a rally on Saturday when he a pounced on Rahul Gandhi and said Rajeev’s Gandhi was termed as “Mr. Clean” from his courtiers but his life ended as “Bhrastachari Number 1”. This statement was a reference to Bofors scam that ruined the congress reputation and chances of coming into power in the 1980s. The scandal revolved around Bofors, a Swedish defense manufacturer paying huge kickbacks to Rajiv Gandhi and others to sale artillery guns to India.
The youngest PM of India was assassinated in 1991
Rajiv Gandhi was former Prime Minister and husband of former Congress President Sonia Gandhi who was assassinated in 1991. He was our 6th prime minister who took the office from 1984 to 1989. Son of Indira Gandhi was the youngest Prime Minister at the age of 40.
PM Modi who is looking for the second term in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections said in a rally that by diminishing his image opposition wants to place a weak and unstable government.
Congress accused BJP of benefitting Ambani’s Reliance Defence
The Congress and other parties accused PM Modi and BJP of reworking the UPA-era Rafale deal to benefit the Anil Ambani. They have accused BJP of giving the contract of 36 Rafale-fighter aircraft from France’s Dassault Aviation to an amateur company Reliance defense even though many stakeholders advised against it.
The allegations have denied by the French government, Bhartiya Janta Party and Reliance. Rahul has promised an investigation for this case if they come to power.
