Injured Students, Teachers, and Guards were admitted to AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital
Masked men and women wielding sticks, sledgehammers, and rods terrorized Jawaharlal Nehru University for three hours on Sunday evening injuring at least 26 students and teachers. Some of the injured students and eyewitnesses said that around 100 men who attacked were mainly outsiders and members of ABVP.
On the other hand, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad accused Left-wing student unions of the violence on the JNU campus.
Police failed to stop the mob
Students and faculty members of JNU also said that police failed to stop the mob from unleashing violence, despite frantic calls from them.
Messages asking people to “thrash the anti-nationals” in JNU allegedly did rounds in some Whatsapp groups leading up to the violence.
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister ordered the Delhi Police to hold an inquiry as the HRD Ministry condemned the incident, blaming outsiders for it and said that anarchy will not be tolerated. The opposition blamed the “fascists” forces.
BJP called it “a desperate attempt by forces of anarchy, who are determined to use students as cannon fodder, create unrest to shore up their shrinking political footprint”.
