Floor test was led by the resignation of 16 MLAs from Congress and JDS
The JDS-Congress coalition Government of Karnataka finally collapsed after the Trust Vote on Tuesday evening. Congress-JDS government failed to find the majority in the floor test. The HD Kumaraswamy’s government got 99 votes and BJP got 105 votes in the Trust Vote.
The Floor test was due from last Friday which was being teetered from the Karnataka government. All rebel MLAs, two Independent MLAs, one BSP MLA didn’t take part in the floor test.
BSP MLA who didn’t take part in Trust Vote, says didn’t get party’s message
BSP only MLA in Karnataka, Mahesh said that he didn’t get any message regarding the Trust Vote . “I was earlier told to abstain from the Trust Vote and I was out of Bangalore so I was told later about the tweet. I don’t know why I am being expelled from the party?”
The demand for floor test came after the 16 MLAs resigned from their post and two Independent MLAs withdrew support from the coalition government. BJP’s state chief and former CM of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa asked the governor for the floor test. Yeddyurappa will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka after he meets the governor Vajubhai Vala on Thursday.
Kumaraswamy resigned as the CM of Karnataka after the floor test
HD Kumaraswamy who tried a lot to save his government, submitted his resignation after meeting the Governor. BS Yeddyurappa congratulated Union Minister Amit Shah for the return of BJP government in Karnataka. The BJP State Chief also said that this is a new era of development will start now in Karnataka.
On the other hand Senior Congress leader of Karnataka DK Shivakumar said that Congress doesn’t regret the coalition of JDS. “I don’t know which role High command gives me, if the leader of the opposition, I am ready for any role.
