IPL 2020 Auction: 332 players will go under the hammer to fill 73 slots including 29 overseas seats
As the day for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction is coming closer, excitement in IPL fans is reaching the next level. IPL 2020 Auction is set to commence on 19th December 2019 at Kolkata, where 332 players from across the world are expected to go under the hammer. A total of 73 slots are to be filled by eight franchises of which 29 have to overseas players. A number of exciting young Indian capped and uncapped players and overseas players who are the expert of T20 and have scored a lot of runs all around the world are set to start a bidding war.
Here we will see five players who are likely to go for big bucks in IPL 2020 Auction.
1. Chris Lynn
The Australian hard-hitting opener was released by Kolkata Knight Riders. With lots of T20 experience and runs in almost all prominent T20 leagues all around the world, Chris Lynn is set to start a bidding war. We won’t be surprised if he gets a 10 crore deal again for the ‘Lynnsanity’ he brings on the ground.
2. Glenn Maxwell
Eyes of franchises will be set for destructive Australian Glenn Maxwell who was released in the pool by Delhi Daredevils. He is a brilliant fielder, decent bowler and an amazing team-person to be around. He created havoc in IPL 2014, playing for KXIP. With his efforts, KXIP reached the IPL finals for the first time that year. Earlier there were concerns if he will be available for auction as he took a break from cricket owing to his troubled mental health.
3. Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer is considered one of the finest emerging talents in West Indies and World Cricket. He has shown some glimpses of hitting ability in the past. Especially his hitting ability against the spinners can work wonders for him in the auction, as IPL matches are mostly played on spin-friendly pitches. Looking at his recent performances against India in India, he will seek attention from franchise bidders.
4. Pat Cummins
The Australian fast-bowler Pat Cummins has been going through a purple patch of his career. When Australia missed the presence of Steve Smith and David Warner due to ban, Pat Cummins emerged as the new Mr Dependable for his country. Apart from taking important wickets at crucial times, he is good with bat too. He could be a good pick for teams who are seeking experience fast-bowlers like Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings Eleven Punjab.
5. Evin Lewis
The attacking southpaw from Windies is someone who can give quick starts in the powerplay and can hit sixes at will. He has an amazing record in T20 Internationals and has scored 2 centuries. He has 67 sixes on his name in just 29 matches. Teams like Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be eying for this explosive opener in the auction tomorrow.
