MS Dhoni might not be selected for the West Indies tour
Chief selectors of Senior Indian team led by MSK Prasad will pick the 15 players for the West Indies touron Sunday noon. Members of All-Indian Senior Selection Committee will meet on July 21 in Mumbai to pick the team for the away tour. West Indies tour starts 3rd August and will go on till 3rd September. India will play 2 T20s first which will be followed by 3 ODI games and then 3 Test matches will follow.
Team for West Indies tour was to be picked on Friday
Meeting of selectors was supposed to be held on Friday. It was postponed after the direction of Committee of Administrators that chairman of the panel will convene the meeting in place of BCCI secretary.
There might be few surprises as few senior players are believed to be given rest ahead of the Test matches. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya might not be selected in the 15 member squad to manage the heavy workload after the World Cup.
Captain Virat Kohli will lead the team again, Not Rohit Sharma
Earlier Virat Kohli has said that he won’t take part in the limited-overs matches in the Windies tour. He changed his mind and later availed himself for the T20s and ODIs too.
There were rumours after India’s loss to New Zealand in World Cup Semi-final that Rohit Sharma will replace Virat Kohli as full-time captain in limited-overs cricket.
All the eyes will be stuck on the wicket-keeper slot. Would it former captain MS Dhoni or the dynamic youngster Risabh Pant? MS Dhoni isn’t likely to participate in the West Indies tour. However, nothing is confirmed as per the reports.
