Indian Prez honours ’65 War vetrans

India and Pakistan went to war in 1965, in which India was victorious. To commemorate the 50 anniversary with a Golden Jubilee celebration, India’s President Pranab Mukherjee felicitated some of the vetrans of this war.

The chief among them was Air Marshal Arjan Singh, India’s only 5 Star General from the Air Force.

The other notable awardee, albeit posthumously was Quarter Master Havildar Abdul Hamid, who won the Param Vir Chakra for his role in the Khem Karan sector of the war.
