3 Idiots

This movie is considered as one of the best ever made. Raju Kumar Hirani made this iconic film in 2009 which became the first movie to gather 200 crores. The record of 200 crores stayed for 4 years until Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express broke it in 2013. The movie is about social pressure on students in the Indian education system.

Ghajini

If 3 Idiots was the first movie to earn 200 crores then Ghajini was the trendsetter of a 100 crore club. The 2008 movie was a remake of a south movie with the same name. The film was also inspired by Hollywood movie Memento.

Dangal

This movie surpassed all the past records at the box-office and minted almost 1900 crore worldwide. It earned 387 crores in India and more than 1000 crore alone in China. It was based on the real-life story of wrestlers Phogat sisters.

PK challenged the religious dogmas, practices and superstitions of India and made 339.50 crores at Indian Box-office. This was also directed by Raju Kumar Hirani and also featured Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles. It released in 2014 and was the first movie to earn 300 crores at the box-office

Dhoom 3

This movie may not be the match to the other movies in the list content wise but it was a money spinner. This movie didn’t let Shah Rukh Khan become the boss for much time for his Chennai Express and reclaimed the top position for Aamir Khan by earning 280 crores at the box-office.
