Skandmata Give Success, peace and prosperity

Maa Skandmata is the fifth avatar of Maa Durga and is worshipped on the fifth day of Navratri. Skanda is another name of Kartikeya. When Goddess Parvati became the mother of Lord Skanda, as is clear from the name Mata Parvati was known as Goddess Skandamata. It is believed that the planet Budha is governed by Goddess Skandamata.

Goddess Skandamata mounts on the ferocious lion. She carries baby Murugan in her lap and Murgan is also known as Kartikeya and brother of Lord Ganesha. Goddess Skandamata is depicted with four hands. She carries lotus flower in her upper two hands. She holds baby Murugan in her right hand and keeps the other right hand in Abhaya Mudra. She sits on lotus flower and because of that Skandamata is also known as Goddess Padmasana.

The complexion of Goddess Skandamata is Shubhra which describes her white complexion. Maa Skandmata, form of Goddess Parvati is worshipped by their devotees as a mother of a supremely gifted child and they get the benefit of worshipping Lord Kartikeya because he is sitting in her mother’s lap. This quality is possessed only by Skandamata form of Goddess Parvati. Her worship leads to to peace, prosperity and salvation.
