About 50,000 to 2, 00,000 years old fossils were discovered during grading at Carlsbad’s Quarry Creek, The San Diego Union Tribune reported.

Fossils include bones of ancient mammoths, horses and turtles.

“It is really an exciting project in terms of geology and paleontology said Tom Demere, curator of Paleontology at the museum. He also added that the animals lived during the Pleistocene Epoch or Last Ice Age.
