Azam Khan put sexist comments on BJP Leader Rama Devi
Bhartiya Janta Party asked for punishment for Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan as leaders criticized the remarks made during the debate. Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman said, “This is an abominable act, I appeal you for exemplary action”.
Several demands were made by different politicians in the Lok Sabha for the action after which the speaker said that he will hold meetings with different leaders from all parties and then take a decision.
Samajwadi leader Azam Khan was asked to address the chair on Triple Talaq Bill
Azam Khan yesterday during the debate responded with out of line comment to BJP leader Rama Devi. Rama Devi during the debate of Triple Talaq bill had asked the Samajwadi Party leader to address the chair.
The comment of Azam Khan was slammed by the politicians present in the parliament and was declared sexist and offensive. Shouts of shame were heard from the present leaders.
However, SP leader later clarified things and said he didn’t say anything unparliamentary
However, Azam Khan later clarified things and said that she is his dearest sister and after a long career in politics he can’t say bad things for her. He added “If there was a single word which was unparliamentary then he will declare his resignation from parliament.
Union Minister Smriti Irani said that “This is a stain on all legislators including the males. We cannot just watch it silently and we need to speak in one word.”
Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Azam Khan should apologize or he should be suspended. The Comments were painful but Rama Devi handled it utmost dignity. “Without compromise, we ask for the toughest punishment.’ said, Prasad.
