Female Journalist gets shot while driving by masked men in East Delhi


The attackers fired two bullets, one of them hit her in the arm

A female journalist was attacked by a group of masked men in east Delhi’s Ashok Nagar area. The journalist was traveling late in Hyundai i20 car at around 12: 30 when she was overtaken by a Maruti Swift. The two masked men fired two shots at her before throwing the eggs on her car’s windshield.

Eggs were thrown to stop her car but she didn’t stop then the shots were fired

The victim is confirmed as Mitali Chandola who works with a private news channel in Noida. When the attackers threw eggs Ms. Chandola didn’t stop her car, then the masked men fired at her. Two bullets were fired which went through the windshield of the car. One of the bullets hit her in the arm.

She was admitted to Dharmshila Hospital in east Delhi and said to be out of danger. The journalist is expected to be shifted to AIIMS Delhi for Surgery.

She has received bullets in her arm and is out of danger. It appears to be a family dispute casa, said Jasmeet Singh, Delhi Commissioner of Police (East).

The police are investigating the matter to look if it’s a regular gang or a family rivalry

The police said they are investigating the matter and finding out if there is a gang which targets people to rob in the night by throwing eggs. They have started looking for the attackers.

Ms. Chandola also said that she is going through some family problems currently.

Before this a 26-year-old journalist Soumya Viswanathan was killed in suck kind of incident in Vasant Kunj Area, Delhi in 2008. Soumya was also driving her car at 3:30 in the morning.
