Election 2019: Election results will be declared on May 23
The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the official dates for 17th Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will take place in seven phases to elect the government in the center. Notably, the elections will take place in four states too. The states are Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. The dates were announced in a Press Conference.
The world’s largest democracy will vote in 7 phases, the polling will begin on April 11 and will end on 19 May. Along with the campaign period, the election cycle will last a little over two months. The voter base of India is estimated at 900 million. Out of which, 84.2 million people are expected to cast their vote. Notably, the term of current Lok Sabha Election will end on June 3.
The stage is now set for the showdown
Finally, the stage is set for a showdown between BJP led National Democratic Alliance and the opposition. Besides Congress, there are several regional parties which are the principal challenger of BJP including SP and BSP. Well, the preparations are in full Swing. The parties are leaving no stone unturned in promotions. The Model Code of Conduct also known as MCC, a guiding principle for political parties and electoral contestants has come into effect immediately across the country.
State Polls for Jammu and Kashmir?
Election commission cited the security concerns and did not announce the polls for Jammu and Kashmir. EC said that it is closely monitoring the situation. EC further added, it has also formed a 3-member special observer team to assess the situation in the state. Notably, the legislative assembly in the state was dissolved last year in November.
23 May will decide Fortune of Political Parties in India
The fortune of Political parties in India will be decided on May 23. Well, the stakes are very high for all the political parties in Lok Sabha elections 2019. The opposition has joined hands so it is a question of survival of them. On the other hand, the Modi government needs to come back with the equally thumping results to get the approval of the voters.
