The year’s most awaited festival is finally here. Durga Puja of Navratri is undoubtedly the most popular festival in India. People wait all year long for these ten days of celebration. At the end of nine days, comes Dussehra. Dussehra essentially symbolises the victory of good over evil. Initially, the stories are about Maa Durga and Lord Ram, but the same can be applied to every human as well. Dussehra 2021 is around the corner and let’s work on getting rid of our evils as well.
We too possess a lot of evils. It might not be intentional but unintentionally we keep in ourselves some evils. This Dussehra cleanse yourself of evils.

Greed is a desire to have more of something. It is the opposite of being content. It is an insatiable desire to consume what is not necessary. This is the root of all evils. It is the end of all happiness in humans. It compels people to commit sins. We must try to be content in whatever we have. What is rightfully ours will always find a way to us. Be content with what you have. Even if you desire something, work for it to earn it rightfully.
Anger, wrath or rage is an intense emotion you feel when something has gone wrong or someone has wronged you. It is often in the form of frustration, verbal or physical altercation, and overwhelming emotions. Feeling anger initially isn’t bad. It’s an emotion that is quite natural in all beings. But it becomes a problem when it gets in the way of living a content and happy life.
Long term anger not only affects physical health but mental health as well. It can cause anxiety, high blood pressure and even heart problems. So it is important that one works on getting rid of their anger.
Hatred is a strong feeling of dislike for something. It can be an object or it can even be a person. It is emotional aversion often coupled with enmity or malice. Hatred itself as an emotion is not very destructive. Although, the same cannot be said about what follows after.
The world is a witness to all sorts of things hate can lead to. Hate crimes all over the world are increasing. It does nobody good. So it is essential to get rid of this evil as well.
It is no less than an evil. Wasting precious time is another of the evils you need to get rid of. The amount of time individual wastes cannot be recovered. Everyone in this world is in a time crunch. We all have a very limited amount of time.
We need to seize opportunities and work towards all that our hearts desire. Only those who get rid of this evil can achieve what they desire.
Pride is a state of mind where a person feels better than everyone else. It is where people believe that they have superior tastes and this often leads them to look down on others.
There’s a famous saying, ‘Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall’! And it is indeed true. Too much pride can lead to destruction. So it is a necessary task to curb yourself of pride.
These are evils within an individual. But there are many social evils in our world that need to be addressed. Only when these evil spirits are gone from our world, can we celebrate Dussehra in true spirit.
