DU to increase 10 % seats for EWS

Human Resource Development Ministry has directed to increase around 25 percent seats in higher educational institutes and universities across the country. It would be applicable to the economically weaker section from the general category from 2019 academic session.

In the admission committee meeting, it was decided that the universities will implement the quota into two phases – 10 percent in the first academic session and remaining 15 percent in the next year. A committee will be formed to work out on how the seats will be increased in the universities and educational institutes. There would not be many changes in the infrastructure and newly admitted students will sit in the existing classrooms.

The committee suggested developing the mechanism to avoid duplication of registration data and completion of admission procedure before the commencement of the session. It is expected that there will be a change in the admission process. As it is seen that the session has started, but still,  the admission process is not completed. Officials said, “there will be centralized admission under the CW (Children/widow of armed forces) category; it will make the process easier for the aspirants.”

To make admission process easier and simple,  the University of Delhi will upload a tutorial video on its website about how to fill the admission form and a dummy of the filled form will also available on the website to guide students. There is a special drive of admission for the students from northeastern states and from this year bulletin of information will be realized in both Hindi and English.

A lot of applicants fill forms of admission through cyber cafes which often creates a problem for them.  A lot of mistakes happen which create problems for them and often don’t get rectified. The video and dummy will help them to apply.
