The win remarks 8th entry for Chennai in IPL finale history

Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets to book the vacant seat of IPL final in 2019. The Top order finally fired and took CSK to win. Batting first Capitals could only manage to score 147-9 in their 20 overs. Chennai Super Kings chased down the score with ease an over before.

Delhi wasn’t able to score big in CSK vs DC clash

Delhi had a poor start as they lost their openers cheaply. Risabh Pant and Colin Munro made sure that their team reaches a respectable total. Ishant Sharma, the number 11 player came and played as he had never played before. He hit a four and a six in his 3 balls small innings. Sanjay Majrekar while commentating said, “I had never seen Ishant Sharma play like this”. Sharma smacked R Jadeja for a four and a six after stepping out of the crease in the final over of Delhi’s innings.

Finally, the openers fired for Chennai

In return, CSK had a solid start with Faf du Plessis playing some good cricketing shots. Since then DC never looked like being in the game. Shane Watson struggled at the beginning of the innings and scoring only 5 of his first 13 balls. Du Plessis got out after scoring a half-century before forging an 81 run partnership in 62 balls. After du Plessis, Shane Watson took the charge and completely turned the match in CSK favor. He hit 4 massive sixes in 50 runs innings of just 32 balls.

Dhoni misses taking CSK home with a six

Amit Mishra got the wicket of Watson but till then the damage was done. With 39 needed of 46 balls, it was a cake-walk for CSK. Dhoni tried to hit the glory shot to Ishant Sharma when the team needed just two runs but he hit the ball straight to the throat of Keemo Paul. It is difficult to remember when was the last time Dhoni wasn’t able to hit the glory shot.

MI have defeated Chennai thrice already

CSK are now ready to fight MI in the finals at Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians have an edge over CSK as they have defeated Chennai thrice already in the ongoing IPL. Dhoni’s team will not put their weapons down easily and a good contest is expected in the finals.
