BJP now has 27 of the 40 MLAs with them in Goa
While DK Shivakumar was attempting the last ditch to negotiate with rebel MLAs in Congress yesterday and save his government in Karnataka, Congress received another massive jolt in Goa. 10 MLAs from Goa have split from the Congress and merged with Bhartiya Janta Party.
Chief Minister of Goa said that MLAs have joined them with no condition.
BJP’s strength with 10 new MLAs joining them has risen to 27 in the 40 seat assembly. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that all these lawmakers have joined BJP for development of the state and their assembly. They haven’t put any condition to join the world biggest party which started its membership plan a few days before.
The 10 MLAs who parted their ways from Congress are Babush Monserratte, Jennifer Monserratte, Francis Silveira, Babu Kavalekar, Wilfred De Sa, Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Isidore Fernandes, Clafasio, Tony Fernandes and Nilkant Halankar.
Reble Lawmakers left congress helpless in Goa because they were not to develop their constituencies
Congress who emerged as the single largest party in the last election is now left with only 5 seats. The leader of the rebel Goa MLAs Babu Kavelkar said that people have voted us for development if we don’t do so how they will choose us again. Congress has the opportunity of forming the government but due to lack of unity in senior leaders, they weren’t able so we have decided to join BJP.
Last month Telangana Congress also lost 12 of its 18 MLAs who joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi which is led by Telangana’s Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
