Reputation for media and media person is fainting day by day as there is an internal conflict between different media houses. Amidst all those, there are few who are doing ethical journalism. Today we will look at 5 best female journalists who have become an inspiration for aspiring journalists and have gone beyond their duty.

1. Faye D’Souza

She is presently one of the most renowned faces in Indian journalism. Faye D’Souza started her career from All India Radio. She went on to work with Mirror Now and hosted a famous show “The Urban Debate on Mirror Now” related to corruption, communal violence and independent press. She quit Mirror Now in 2019 and started her independent channel.  She has constantly called out against the inaction of government on religious freedom and corruption.

2. Gauri Lankesh

The late Gauri Lankesh was a prominent female journalist-turned activist from Bangalore, Karnataka.  She was an editor in self-owned Lankesh Patrika, a Kannada weekly. She was a critic of right-wing extremism and used to speak on women’s rights and caste-based discrimination. Gauri Lankesh might not be with us anymore, but her work still inspires many young female journalists.

3. Rana Ayyub

Rana Ayyub started her career in investigative journalism with Tehelka. She has written a book on Gujrat riots based on her findings – Gujrat Files: Anatomy of a Cover Up of Godhra Train Burnin. She is currently working with The Washington Post as a Global Opinions Writer. She received the ‘Mosty Resilient Journalist Award’ in 2018 and ‘McGill Award’ for journalistic courage in 2020.

4. Shalini Chopra

Shalini Chopra is a business journalist, entrepreneur and founder of SheThePeople.TV, a digital news website that focuses on women. She has worked with NDTV-profit and ETNOW previously. Shalini has also penned down four books. Chopra won the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Business Journalism.

5. Mayanti Langer

Mayanti Langer is not just a pretty face on TV but also an inspiration for many girls who want to become a sports presenter. She generally works for Star Sports Network and is a wife of Indian cricketer Stuart Binny. Mayanti Langer has hosted tournaments like Football Cafe on Zee Sports, 2010 Commonwealth Games, 2010 FIFA World Cup, 2018 Indian Premiere League, 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2015 Cricket World Cup and many more.
