PM Modi extended his warm wishes to Chinese President Xi JinPing for Second Term
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wished Chinese President Xi Jinping for securing second term as the head of the ruling Communist Party. He said, he looks forward to further promote India-China ties.
“Congratulations to President Xi on getting re-elected as CPC General Secretary. Look forward for a warm India- China ties together,” Modi said in his message on popular Chinese microblog Weibo which is akin to Twitter.
PM’s messaged was posted both in English and Mandarin
Xi got formally handed his second term in power and his doctrine was written into the party constitution, elevating him on par with modern China’s founder Chairman Mao Zedong and his successor Deng Xiaoping.
Notably, Xi Jinping is one of the most powerful leaders of China. He is expected to retire in year 2022, but there are speculations that he may continue for a third term, considering his powerful position in the party.
India and China Ties
Notably, since June 16, 2017 Chinese and the Indian troops were engaged in a standoff. Notably, the message has come in the wake of difficult period of bilateral ties, following 72 – day face –off in the Dokalam area.
Notably, Modi and Xi had a cordial meeting in Xiamen, China, following the BRICS summit in early September, with having what officials described as “a forward looking conversation”.
Interestingly, Modi and Xi have had at least nine meetings, and have established a strong reputation with each other despite new challenges in their relationship.
Well, we hope that our ties with China will definitely become strong in coming future, and it seems that PM Modi is all set for it.
