WCD or World Cancer Day is celebrated on 4th February every year in order to create awareness and improve our knowledge about cancer. It is an occasion to raise collective voices for improving and augmenting our knowledge and concern for those affected by cancer. This year the tagline for World Cancer Day is “Cancer – Did you know?” This implies the need to dispel the prevailing misconceptions and myths about cancer.
The United Nations Organizations has directed all nations of the world to devise and formulate strategies and policies to fight against the lethal ailment and also to disseminate the preventive and curative efforts.
In 1933 World Cancer Day was formed in Geneva, Switzerland. The foundation of this day is an attempt to bring down the fast prevailing rate of cancer across the world.
According to reports, around 12.7 million people are diagnosed with cancer and about 7 million people die due to the disease.
Various programs, seminars, lectures, and meets are organized by cancer associations globally.
Let all us pledge to do our bit in order to spread awareness about the lethal disease.
