Paresh Rawal’s tweet on Arundhati Roy kicks up a storm, here is why?
MP and actor Paresh Rawal has provoked a Twitter storm after his tweet which says that author Arundhati Roy should be tied to an army jeep, in a reference Kashmir’s ‘human shield’ incident.
Paresh Rawal tweeted, “Instead of tying Pelter on the army jeep tie up! Arundhati Roy.” Notably, the comments have been retweeted over 3000 times within 14 hours. The tweet has received 6000 likes so far. The veteran actor didn’t stop at Arundhati Roy. He retweeted a follower who had written that if Arundhati Roy was not available, journalist Sagarika Ghosh could replace her.

Mr. Rawal is a Lok Sabha Parliamentarian from Gujarat. He made his debut as an MP in 2014. Notably, the human shield footage was among a series of videos that surfaced in Kashmir last month. The video showed clashes between protesters and security personnel in Kashmir. The army said its soldiers strapped the young man to the front of their jeep as protection from the protestors who were throwing stones.
Although Arundhati Roy is known for her outspoken nature, but she has yet not given any comments this outrageous comment of Mr. Rawal.
On the work front, Ms. Roy’s second novel, ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness’, will come out next month, almost after two decades after her first novel, ‘God of small things’- for which she went on to win a Booker Prize.
