Apple inc. early this June came up with its latest proposal in the operating system market. Named Apple iOS 8, it brings in a bunch of fresh additions in features, for example, the new health app which gathers data from other health related applications in the mobile and brings them under one roof is an entirely new concept.
The company’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi commented on the occasion, “iOS 8 offers simpler, faster and more intuitive ways to use your device with incredible new features like iCloud Photo Library, a new Messages app, the QuickType keyboard and an entirely new Health app”.
Throwing more light, One World News gives you a brief account of the all new iOS 8:
New Messages App
iOS 8 has come up with this new messages app, which allows the user to share voice recordings, videos or photos in just one swipe. While chatting in a group, the user can remove contacts, leave the conversation, and also there is a new option available where the user can choose to ‘not be disturbed’. Multiple photos and videos can be sent at once, as well.
Looking at these features, it is clear that Apple with its new messages app, offers the user to perform more work in less time.
Through iCloud, up to six members, each with their own ID can browse and download each other’s iTunes, iBooks or App store purchases. Parents can create Apple IDs for children, where the ‘Ask to Buy’ option requires parental permission for making any purchase.
The latest Health App gives the user a clear overview of health and fitness data. Moreover, the Health App can also gather the information, whatever the user chooses, from various other health apps and fitness devices to provide a complete picture at one junction (Health App). iOS 8 offers the developers the ability to make health and fitness apps communicate with each other. Only post the user’s permission, an application can use specific information from other applications.
Apple’s Quick Type keyboard has become smarter than before and more personalized with its new ‘Predictive Typing’. It suggests favorite phrases and words which allows the users to write an entire sentence with just few taps. Quick Type understands the user’s way of communication and also, what the keyboard learns is encrypted on the user’s device and never sent on cloud.
Albeit, Apple has succeeded in attracting the customers with its latest iOS 8 operating system, but the feedback from the consumers’ side is yet to come. On the other hand, the launch is not good news for the iPhone 4 users, as they have not been offered any up-gradation in their version of iOS. iPhone 4 is a five year old model and Apple has a policy of not upgrading the operating system beyond four years. The same happened with the Apple iPhone 3GS which did not get the iOS 7 update, last year.
