Supreme Court is expected to announce the names of BCCI Administrators today
According to reports, the Supreme Court will today name the independent group of BCCI administrators, who will take the charge of BCCI in India. Notably, they will also oversee the implementation of Justice Lodha Committee proposals.
As per reports, advocate Anil B. Divan and Gopal Subramaniam had been asked by the Supreme Court to assist in nominating persons as the members of committee of administrators.
Notably, On January2, the apex court had removed BCCI President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke from their respective posts for not bringing accountability and transparency in the Indian Cricket Board and for their non- compliance of court’s July 18, 2016 order.
The court has also asked a reply from Thakur regarding perjury charges levelled against him by Subramaniam.
Last year in December, the court had observed that Thakur prima facie appears to have committed matter of perjury in relation to demanding an intervention through a letter from ICC in order to avoid the implementations of the Lodha Committee recommendations.
In a landmark judgment from, the Supreme Court had accepted major recommendations of the Lodha -Panel on structural reforms and had given six months deadline to BCCI to implement the recommendations.
Notably, on October 1st, the board accepted most the significant recommendations of the Lodha panel, but excluded the important ones, which could have act as the bone between the cricket body and Lodha Panel.
Here are the recommendations which are still not accepted the board
- One- state One- vote, age limit 70
- Cooling – off period of three years which included the tenure of administrators
- Continue with five – selectors and retaining the powers of the president
Today, names of BCCI administrators would be announced by Supreme Court and then new members will completely take over the charge.
