This day is celebrated as Engineer’s Day in India in the memory of one of the best engineers that India has produced. Born on 15th September,
1861 in Muddenahalli, a small village in Karnataka Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is a legend in the field on engineering.
He was awarded the Bharat Ratna (highest honour in India) in the year 1955 and was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V.
His work, especially ‘Planned Economy for India and Reconstructing India’ is considered a pioneering book that it still referred by economic planners. He was also responsible for building the Krishna
Raja Sagar dam.
The theme for this year’s Engineer’s Day is- “”Skill Development for Young Engineers to Reform the Core Sector: Vision 2025.”
