Salman Khan and Irrfan Khan Join hands for “Lions of the Sea”
News of Khans working together is always a delight to ears. Of course, who would not want Khans to come together? One such good news is the one of Salman Khan and Irrfan Khan joining hands for a film project. Yes, Salman khan and Irrfan Khan will soon work together. We have never really seen these two Khans working together or locking horns, making this so obviously that this alliance is a bit of wonderment.
However, it has been notice that the duo will be teaming up for a movie based on the Komagata Maru incident. As we know Salman’s ownership of a production house has given us some really cool movies. This film too will be released under the same background but shall be front lined by Irrfan Khan.
Details of the Movies
Salman has roped in Irrfan for this project, according to sources. Amar Butala, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Salman Khan Films was quoted as saying, “It is a powerful human story of struggle and triumph in which Irrfan Khan will play a Sikh named Gurdit Singh.
The story of those Sardars, Muslims and Hindus is relevant even today as we hear and read about the refugee crisis and racial profiling constantly. We have already begun the pre-production work and will announce the director and the whole cast of the movie in the next few days.”
The name of this Salman Khan film will be “Lions of the Sea.” Enabled within a very strong religious message, the film will start rolling in 2017.
About the Komagata Maru incident
For all who are unaware of the Komagata Maru incident, here is a brief report on the same. The event involved the Japanese steamship of the same name that consisted of 24 Muslims, 340 Sikhs and 12 Hindus, escaping from the horrifying British Raj.
Their attempt to immigrate from the country and flee to Canada via Shanghai, Hong Kong, Yokohama and Vancouver, British Columbia from Punjab. As you know see that most of these cities were under the British Raj at that time, this incident is also based in 1914.
While many of them escaped from India, only 24 of them were able to cross the border and find solace in the land of Canada. The others were rejected by the country and were asked to return from where they came. One of the first instances in a series where Canada and the US used their exclusion laws to bar Asian-originated immigrants from entering their country in the early 20th century.
Inspiring as the movie’s title sounds, the movie’s rest of the cast has not been finalised yet except for Irrfan’s role. Known for his unconventional and inspiring movies, we will be watching the Inferno actor once again portray the common man’s role as he tries to flee from his hometown.
Shooting for this movie will be done in India, Hong Kong and Canada. Currently, the actor is busy with his Homi Adajania film, Takadum, which also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra in leads. Irfan Khan will be portraying the role of a rockstar’s mentor in the Adajania film. Post this; he will give Tanuja Chandra’s untitled next a kick start. The preparation for his role in ‘Lions of the Sea’ will start by next year itself.
We are super excited for this movie, aren’t you? Not only does it have Irrfan Khan as the face of this ambitious project but it will be produced by Salman Khan. These two well known Khans, Salman Khan and Irrfan Khan will come together to make a huge impact and we are sure of that.
