This comes for the second time in as many days, RSS has again condemned the violence against Dalits by some cow vigilante groups.
The statement followed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks against these cow vigilantism this weekend, and also included that the majority of gau rakshaks were an anti-social elements.
Bhaiyyaji Joshi, the RSS Secretary has said that, taking law in our hand and further mistreating people who belong to our own samaaj (social group) is not just injustice but it’s also downright human conduct.
He further added that violence against the Dalits community needed to be condemned in the “strongest terms”. “We ask all the other sections of our society to be wary of the elements, who are disturbing trust and the amity.”
RSS is with Narendra Modi
He also mentioned that they expect the administration to ensure that these people serve punishment, who are making a mockery of the law.
The demonstrative support from the RSS for PM Modi’s comments was clearly intended to be a signal to the larger Sangh Parivar that the statements by PM was not at cross-purposes with the saffron fountainhead.
The need for RSS’ statement further became evident after there were some gau rakshak groups who said that they did not agree with the PM’s view.
Like the PM, the Sangh has also condemned violence against the Dalits and did not mention Muslims, who have been till now receiving end of the “raids” carried out by these cow vigilantes.
The pointed outreach to the Dalit communities is very much important in the context of next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, where BJP is further banking on being able to woo a section of Scheduled Castes.
