In what can be described as a completely unusual and new pairing, Shruti Haasan and Rajkummar Rao will get together for the first time in a rom- com titled Behen Hogi Teri, produced by Amul Vikas Mohan, Tony D’Souza and Nitin Upadhyaya. And the new entry is Ajay K Pannalal, who has directed a few hit Punjabi films.
About the pairing
Behen Hogi Teri sees the ‘serious cinema’ type Rao enter the full-on commercial sphere.
A source close to the production unit discloses about the choice, “The film is based in Lucknow and Rajkummar has the right personality and feel that he fits the main character completely. Shruti has an incredible role, too. Moreover, the two have never been cast together before. Obviously, the filmmakers are very excited.”
According to Mohan, “BHT is a fun movie with a big heart. We have spent a lot of time making the story right because that’s our very first priority. We were lucky to get together a great cast which we are sure will really surprise and entice the audiences. Shooting will begin in December.”Behen Hogi Teri will have a tight schedule and will wrap up by January 2017.
Rajkummar made his Bollywood debut with 2010 film Love Sex Aur Dhokha and got fame in 2013 with Kai Po Che and a biographical film Shahid. He was awarded with the National Film Award for Best Actor and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Shahid Azmi in the film.
