On Monday, the Trivandrum vigilance court ordered a “quick verification” probe against the former Kerala finance minister K.M. Mani on a complaint that he had used the “bribed” amount to conduct an extravagant mass wedding in October 2014.
As per the complainant, Mani used Rs. 4 crore from the total amount he received from the bar owner’s association.

Last year, during the celebrations of the Kerala Congress (M)’s golden jubilee, an elaborated mass wedding of 150 couples was organised in Kottayam, where each couple were gifted with Rs. 1.5 lakh and five sovereigns of gold.
Earlier, on August 27 a Vigilance Court had ordered probe against the ex-finance minister in the bar bribery scam case.
The Kerala Congress (M) recently snapped ties with the United Democratic Front (UDF) after their differences with Congress over the bar scam issue.
