India has made sacrifices fighting for others: PM
Our country has never attacked any territory:- India as a country has never attacked any country, nor has it coveted anyone’s territory, but on the other hand, the country has made some supreme sacrifices fighting for others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said yesterday.
His statement came days after the Indian army’s surgical strikes on the terror launch pads across the Line of Control as also in the backdrop of Pakistan’s constant clamor for further highlighting the Kashmir issue at the international fora.
Modi had lamented that despite the great price paid by the Indians, India could not make the world realise the importance of its sacrifice. He said that, whenever he went abroad, he made it a point that he visits the memorials for the Indian soldiers.
The PM also mentioned that the Indian diaspora did not believe further in indulging in politics or grabbing power abroad, but on the other hand, they have always mingled with other communities.
Indians living abroad has a motive of social wellbeing
Indians, the PM noted, lived abroad with a genuine principle of “social well being. … They are like water. They change their colour and also shape as per the need,” he said.
Observing that the Indian diaspora should not be looked in terms of its numbers, rather they should be looked in terms of its strength, he said there were countries where the Indian community was more powerful than the Indian missions and could help in further removing the “fear of unknown” amongst the people there towards India.
He also commended that the role of the Ministry of External Affairs in helping people of Nepal in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and then evacuating Indians and other nationals from hotspots like Yemen.
Modi said India has always made a place for itself and the world now accepts India as a major contributor in extending the humanitarian aid and added that other nations now sought Indian help in pulling out their citizens from trouble spots.
