Rohit Shetty said Golmaal Return was a crap
Rohit Shetty said Golmaal Return was a crap:- Rohit Shetty’s 2008 directorial “Golmaal Returns” was a super hit, but he says that he knew it was a crap film.
The comedy drama which had Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi, is part of a highly successful comedy franchise “Golmaal”.
Rohit’s take on Golmaal Returns
While speaking at a panel discussion at the ongoing Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival, Shetty stated that he can sense it when his film goes wrong.
“You start getting that feeling when you go wrong. My films are hardcore commercial films catering to a particular set of audience. So, you start getting that feeling that it will not work at that level. I have been right about the choice twice or thrice,” he said.
When asked what happens when his film fails to create fireworks at the box office, how does he return making films?
“We rectify ourselves; think about what all went wrong. Even if it is a superhit, the whole team sits together and we introspect. ‘Golmaal Returns’ was one of the biggest hit of 2008. But we knew, it is a crap film,” said Shetty, who gave hits like “Chennai Express”, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
He also shared that why some of his movie, including the 2015 release “Dilwale”, which brought back SRK and Kajol together on the silver screen after a gap of five years, did not hit the jackpot.
He said “In ‘Singham Returns, the character went wrong. In ‘Dilwale’ the whole Kajol-Shah Rukh story went wrong and by this you come to know where you are going wrong. And then you rectify and move forward,” said Shetty.
Director Rohit Shetty is famous for his action sequences in the films. Though, a lot of film critics believe that his movies are usually low on intellect, but the fact is his action sequences and humour element drives his fans crazy.
