October 4 marks World Animal Day!:- World Animal Day is an international day that is celebrated on 4th of October every year.
It is celebrated on this particular date because it is the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, who isassociated with patronage of animals and natural environment.
The mission of the World Animal day is- “To raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. It’s celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology. Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare.”

On this day, various events have been organised all over the globe under the umbrella of World Animal Day. These include educational events, awareness programmes, fundraising programmes, workshops, animal blessing services and many more.
It is important that every person on the planet realises and recognises the need to have such a day to save our animals. The lives of animals are always affected by individual action and it is our responsibility to ensure their protection. This day “unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force for change.”
Other than this, there are various other days that is dedicated to animals, such as“World Day for Laboratory Animals on 24 April and World Wildlife Day on 3 March.”
As people who inhabit a place where animals are an important part it is important that we come together and make sure that we provide them a better future.
