Nawaz Sharif and Daughter Maryam will soon reach Lahore: Important Highlights
According to reports, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam will be arrested in Lahore in a corruption case. Both are expected to reach Lahore today. Notably, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter stopped over in Abu Dhabi on their way to Pakistan from London. They are expected to reach Pakistan at 6.15 pm (local time).
As per a report, they will be arrested on their arrival at Lahore airport from where they will be taken to Islamabad by helicopter so that they can be sent to Jail for imprisonment.
Nawaz Sharif said, “The country is at a critical juncture right now.” Apart from him, Maryam also urged her followers to support her and “change the fate of the country.”
Both of them are returning to Pakistan to face a prison sentence which was announced on July 6 by the court. They have been charged with three corruption cases and one of them is Panama Papers Scandal.
Notably, Sharif and Maryam have been sentenced to 10 and 7 years in Jail respectively. Sharif, who was in London when the verdict was announced, said he is returning to Pakistan from London to fulfill his pledge to “honour the vote.”
Around 10,000 cops have been deployed to maintain the law and order of the city. According to reports, Pakistan Police has also placed containers on the city roads leading to the airport. A very narrow passage has been left for the motorist. The main motive behind this is to prevent PML- N workers from a hero’s welcome on the streets for the leaders. Party officials have said that the police have started a crackdown against them, detaining hundreds of workers in the early hours of Friday.
