Soon you will be able to use your PS4 controller natively in Steam
Native PS4 controller support will soon come to steam: Reports – According to a report, soon you will be able to use your PS4 controller natively in Steam. According to an announcement at Steam Dev Days, Valve will release an update to allow full configuration of the DualShock 4 controller for steam.
The report further added that the similar support will come to other controllers in future, though company has yet not made an official statement over it.
What does this actually mean?
Native PS4 controller support coming to steam actually means, that players can pair their PS4 controller directly to their PC and can use all the configurability options available to the steam controller. It will also include use of the PS4 touchpad and gyro. Notably this will definitely benefit the players already using a Dualshock4 to play PC games.
Ps4 and Steam
Well, this is just one of many controllers that will receive such support. Notably there will be support for all popular controllers to steam’s API. Interestingly, this would allow consumers the ability to use the controller of their own choice. So there would be no need of Xbox 360 or Xbox one controller.
Apart from it, the support will also negate the need of third party software such as Joy 2Key in order to achieve the compatibility. The reason behind for Valve supporting the PS4 controller, according to the Doucet, is because of the fact that it shares similar functionality with the Steam Controller, as it also have gyroscope and a touchpad.
The Doucet has even claimed that when one will use the PS4 through the steam API, it will be exact as a steam controller. One can make same API calls, one will get only actions not input and the API steam will take care of everything else.
