Nation high on Football Fever, ISL 2016 begins today:- The third season of Indian Super League (ISL) is here! The football league is all to begin today. The league that was started in 2013 is now in its third season. This season there are eight teams playing 14 matches excluding the finals.
The eight teams are- Atlético de Kolkata, Chennaiyin, Delhi Dynamos, Goa, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City, NorthEast United and Pune City.
The stadiums where the games will be played are- Rabindra Sarobar Stadium(Kolkata), Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Chennai, Kerala and Delhi), Fatorda Stadium(Goa), Mumbai Football Arena (Mumbai), Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium (Guwahati) and Balewadi Stadium (Pune).
The league will kick-start today with its opening ceremony taking place in Guwahati, Assam.Football Sports Development Ltd had awarded Guwahati with the rights to host the ceremony. By doing so, Football Sports Development Ltd “wishes to celebrate North East’s contribution to the development of Indian football and recognise the potential it has in shaping the future of the beautiful game in the country.”

B-Town celebs in opening ceremony
The opening ceremony will be star lit with Bollywood actors such as Alia Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandes and Varun Dhawan who will be performing at the ceremony. John Abraham (owner of NorthEast United) and Nita Ambani (founder of ISL) will also be present there.
Ranbir Kapoor (co-owner of Mumbai City FC), Sachin Tendulkar ( co- owner of Kerala Blasters FC ) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (co-owner Chennaiyin FC) will also be present at the grand opening.
PV Sindhu, silver medatist of Rio Olympics 2016 will also add her charm to the event.
The first match between NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters will begin at 7 p.m today.
So, be ready and all geared to watch the grand opening ceremony and the first ISL match for this season with some popcorn and coke in your hands.
