Najeeb Jung resigns from his post, CM Kejriwal pays a visit to Jung
Najeeb Jung abruptly submitted his resignation from his post as Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor on Thursday. Apparently, Jung has been thinking of quitting for quite some time now and made his final decision only this week. His tenure as Delhi’s L-G was supposed to end in July 2018. Najeeb Jung resigns from his post and here are few things to you need to know.
The reason for Jung’s sudden resignation has yet to be clarified. According to few sources, Jung is of fed up of the ongoing politics between the central and Delhi government.
Moreover, he was more than willing to return to his most loved field, Academics. For past 8 or so months, Najeeb was in constant dispute with AAP due to various reasons but none of it is the reason for his resignation.
A press release confirming Jung’s resignation was issued by Jung’s office at 4 pm on Thursday stating, “He thanks the Hon’ble Prime Minister for all the help and cooperation he received during his tenure… (and) the people of Delhi for all their support and affection, especially during the one year’s President Rule in Delhi.”
Delhi’s CM, Arvind Kejriwal who was himself shocked with L-G’s unexpected resignation visited the latter this morning on breakfast. When asked about the meeting, he simply stated that he was invited for a friendly breakfast by Najeeb Jung and his reasons for resignation are rather ‘Personal’.
Home Ministry officials are yet to process Jung’s resignation which might take some time due to President’s visit to southern states.
Jung’s three and a half years as Delhi’s L-G were rather eventful including his bickering with AAP for interference in Governance including the one year President’s rule in Delhi.
All these sweat-breaking activities must have taken a toll on Jung’s physical and mental health which had forced him to take such a decision.
Nonetheless, along with rest of the nation, we would like to wish Najeeb Jung ‘All the very Best’ for his future endeavors.
