London based Sebastian Peter showcased his exclusive men’s wear at a show recently. The whole collection was a mixture of stunted, gender-bending tailoring and influenced silhouettes from Middle-East and Asia which includes India. He is considered best among new crop of men’s wear designer and here is a look about his work.
About his past?
I was born 26years ago in Holland and when I turned 19 I was attracted to fashion. While doing BA in bespoke tailoring he interned with designers working as a public relation man and helping designers.
His first collection?
In 2014 after finishing his diploma in fashion designing he presented his graduate collection of men’s wear but it was not well appreciated. Though landed in Paris and having met some fashion houses he could not get a break. He took it as a challenge and decided to start his own brand of men’s wear.
How become a luxury product designer?
Initially my fellow designers asked me to do collection with not too costly fabrics keeping in mind the profit margin. But that did not click with me as I always wanted to produce luxury product and cannot compromise on quality even if the price range is on other side. He wants to design clothes that people love to wear and enjoy and fell good too.
About his collection
He always wanted to do it in a classic way. He introduced unusual silhouettes for men’s shirts, socks and pants. It is done in a classic way in fabrics like cashmere wool and waxed cotton. The collection includes cropped suits in grey, blue trousers and wordy sweatshirts.
His future plan?
He does not want to stick to be very exclusive. He intends to come out with mass production and he is negotiating with some fashion houses how his dream come true. Either has to keep the exclusiveness or churn two separate brands one for exclusive high profile clients or design for masses. He has yet to decide all depending upon the feedback he is expecting to get shortly.
