Manohar Parrikar will visit Uri tomorrow, his first ever visit after the attacks
Defence Minister to visit Kashmir to pay homage to major Somnath
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will be in Kashmir tomorrow and he will also visit Uri. Notably it will be his first visit to Uri post Uri attack and Surgical Strike.
He will be accompanied by Army Chief Dalbir Singh. Amid the repetitive violation of the ceasefire by Pakistan, he himself will review the preparations with Senior Army commanders. He will be in Kashmir to pay homage to the country’s first Param Vir Chakra recipient Major Somnath on his 69th death anniversary.
Major Somnath received this award for his bravery in operations against Pakistan in year 1947. He sacrificed his life while evicting Pakistani raiders from Srinagar Airport during the war. Manohar Parrikar will also unveil the statue of major Somnath tomorrow.
Impact of Uri Attack and Surgical Strike
Tension between India and Pakistan has reached its peak and there is war like situation on the border. On September 18, Army base in Uri was attacked by four militants of Pakistan, the incident claimed lives 0f 19 jawans. In return India carried out a surgical strike in Pakistan and since then the condition at L0C has went on to become worst.
Firing and attacks are now not only confined to army, now even civilians are also paying for it. On Tuesday ceasefire violation by Pakistan killed eight person s, including 4 women and 2 children in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
US embassy has issued an alert
O other hand, US embassy has issued an alert to its citizens that IS could any time attack India. And more foreigners would be targeted so they all need to stay alert.
