Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said that Union Government has agreed to provide the help of Rs 3,049 crore for drought relief. Fadnavis made this announcement via his twitter account.
He further claimed that this is the largest assistance from the centre to any of the nine drought hit states. Maharashtra, that is facing drought in more than Rs 4,002 crore in central assistance.
Fadnavis also tweeted for his critics that “There can’t be a more befitting reply to those who have been doing only politics on drought instead of uniting for farmers in time of distress.” Maharashtra government itself has spent more than Rs 8,000 crore for drought and farm relief measures.
