How to deal with a person with anxiety disorder? Effective ways to bond with them better
Anxiety is an emotion characterized by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by nervous act such as pacing back and forth, somatic complaints, and rumination. Globally 1 in 13 suffers from Anxiety.
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is nothing but a baggage that a person is carrying from a long time. The monsters under bed when we were kids are now inside our heads. People who suffer from this disorder seem fine physically, but deep down they know something is very wrong which makes them to do things that they don’t want to do.
Anxiety is not a choice for people, we often think that some people act weirdly, seems so indecisive, shy or sometimes aggressive. Leaving behind their unpredictable behavior we should look at the bigger picture. We should try to help them by understanding their problem. There could be various reasons behind their unpredictable, and one of them is Anxiety.
Here is how you can deal with them effectively?
- While dealing with them, be loving and genuine. Tell them that there is nothing to be afraid of, but do not ask the reason behind their behavior.
- People with Anxiety are the over thinkers, so do let them know that their problem is temporary.
- Don’t be judgmental or irritated in front of them when they are panicking.
- Pamper them and make them comfortable. This will help you to deal with them effectively.
People who suffer from this disorder or nervousness often avoid going in parties and crowded places. They don’t like to be in the spotlight. They are the good observers and express their emotions well in writing. It’s important to take care of everyone but it is more important to take care of people who do not fit in the box. Do not help them to do their things because they are already smart in doing things by their own. It is just, “DO NOT JUDGE THEM”.
