IPL season 10: Shane Watson to captain Royal Challengers Bangalore in absence of Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is currently suffering from a shoulder injury and now it has been confirmed that his shoulder injury will rule him out from the initial stages of IPL season 10. In Virat’s absence Shane Watson will be the interim captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Notably, the 35-year old, has previously captained the Rajasthan Royal Franchise. Virat Kohli has been hit hard by the injury. Apart from Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Sarafaz Khan are set to miss the campaign. Shane Watson is an all – rounder and he has received player of the tournament title twice.
According to a statement released, “Kohli will miss the few initial matches of the tournament and in the meanwhile Shane Watson will hold the fort and will be the interim captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore.”
On the other hand, AB de Villers is also suffering from an injury and according to reports, he will be travelling with RCB squad. He is expected to be fit in time for the second game.
IPL season 10 is all set to begin from tomorrow. The match would be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad VS Royal Challengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Notably, Watson had joined RCB in 2016. The franchise had bought him for 9.5 crore auctions last year. He was previously part of Rajasthan Royals. Watson has already taken retirement from international cricket.
According to a report, the team’s chairman Amit Thomas has informed that Virat Kohli will be travelling with the team as a mentor.
