Women all over the country are making India proud. Whether it is Politics, Sports, Entertainment, women are there in all spheres of life working shoulder-to-shoulder with men. Even Body Building, which was once considered purely a manly sport, has women participants. Out of all the women body builders, one who outshined the others would be none other than Yasmeen Manak. The 36-year-old fitness freak is lifting weights for 17 years now. With the achievements, she has achieved in the past years, she has proved herself as an unordinary girl who will not let the societal norms break her. She is a determined girl who believes in breaking stereotypes. The girl who was once called ugly by her fellow mates is now showered with number of compliments for her strength every day.
Confirming about being different from most of the girls, Yasmeen stated, “Normal is boring. I like to break the stereotypes. I ride a Bullet and do power lifting. I am already more muscular than many guys and love it.”
Yasmeen who started body building training merely three years ago, has already won two gold medals in the field. She has earned medals in the Women Physique category and Women Fitness category at IBBFF which is the official federation representing International Federation of Body Building (IFBB).
“Being a girl, it was a big challenge to pursue bodybuilding as a career. There were speculations and doubts as it’s a male-dominated field, but my family and friends really supported me,” stated Yasmeen when asked about her support system.
She admitted that people have tried to discourage her every now and then but she has always believed in moving forward with paying much heed to them. Yasmeen owns a gym in Gurgaon and trains more than 300 boys and girls there.
She is now getting herself ready to participate in Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Championship 2016 which is to take place in Bhutan. Undoubtedly, Yasmeen has proven that she is indeed the Iron Woman of India.
