India squad for England ODIs will be announced today
According to reports, the selection committee meeting is expected to announce the India squad for England ODIs today. The Indian team selection would be done today despite of the fact, that BCCI is currently going administrative crisis following the latest Supreme Court order.
Notably, the BCCI has announced today that the selection panel headed by former India wicketkeeper MSK Prasad will gather in Mumbai on Friday to pick the Indian team for England series.
The ODI series is scheduled to begin from January 15th. The selectors are also expected to pick the India A squad for two warm matches against England to be held at CCI, Mumbai.
However, it still remains the question that who will choose the team, five member panel or the three member panel as suggested by the Supreme Court Lodha Panel.
According the recommendations of Lodha Panel, senior selection committee was supposed to be three-member team compromising test players.
Notably, BCCI had announced new panel in the September last year, with its now sacked President Anurag Thakur .
The BCCI is in crisis since Monday after the order of Supreme Court. The court order directed to remove Anurag Thakur from his post.
The Supreme Court not only sacked Shrike and Thakur, the apex court directed all the office bearers of BCCI and state associations to give an undertaking stating that they all will abide by the recommendations of the Lodha Panel.
The recommendation has made most of the office- bearers ineligible to continue their roles. The Supreme Court has asked the senior most Vice President of the board to perform the role of president and secretary till January 19 when a new set of administrations will take charge of the world’s richest cricket board.
