Barack Obama speaks about Muslim ban, he believes America’s values are at stake
While addressing the final news conference on January 18th, Barack Obama had said that he would comment on his successor’s action only at certain moments where he would think that country’s values are at stake. Notably, he managed to stay quiet for less than two weeks. And he has finally opened about the Donald Trump’s Muslim Ban.
Barack Obama in still on vacation with his family, he issued a statement through his spokesperson on Monday encouraging Americans to publicly protest against the ban of citizens from seven – Majority- Muslim countries.
He said that Americans Values are at stake. According to reports, to be sure, the statement issued by his spokesperson makes no specific mention of the current president or the policy that has generated international uproar.
The statement note that Barack Obama “fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith.”
Obama’s decision to speak out – after pledging to do so in rare circumstances underscores the predicament. But according to him, America’s values are at stake and this prompted him to speak. He feels individuals should not be discriminated because of their faith.
Reading between the lines of Trump’s decision
As per the reports, Amnesty International has warned that Trump’s ban on travellers from the seven – Muslim -majority-countries nations could be just beginning of border crackdown on Muslim Immigration.
He has also fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night after she ordered lawyers not defend his immigration order. His order states the temporary ban on citizens of seven Muslim- majority countries and refugees all across the world.
Notably, the policy has evoked backlash around the world, amid concerns that it only targets Muslims. The move has been criticised all across the world. However, White House has insisted that policy will protect against Islamic terrorism.
