The Hindu Festival Vasant Panchmi that is celebrated in February marks the beginning of spring season.
It is particularly celebrated in eastern parts of India as Saraswati Puja(Goddess of knowledge). In Punjab and West Bengal it is celebrated as a festival of kites.
Notably, during the ancient times, festival was celebrated in the Royal Palace of Kamadeva, where dancing girls and other people used to dance on the beats of dhol. Apart from it, yellow color clothes are worn on this day.
Currently, it is widely celebrated as the Saraswati Puja, a grand feast is organised to honour Kamadeva and essence of love is also consider on this day as this is an auspicious day to hold a large numbers of weddings.
