Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that government is running against time for the implementation of GST and termed April 1 a very stiff target. But he still wants to give it a try. Notably the central government is planning to implement the landmark tax regime from April next year.
Arun Jaitley during the Economist India Summit said that they have kept a very stiff target and the reason is that there is a great support for the reform that GST is. Most of the states have ratified it because they know the benefit of it.
The Minister further added procedural formalities of collecting proceedings of all states and sending it to president for ratification are on.
