It is officially announced that President of France, Francois Hollande will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that “We are happy that the President of France Francois Hollande has accepted our invitation to be the chief guest at India’s 67th Republic Day celebration on 26 January 2016.”
France was the first country in the world with which India established a strategic Partnership in year 1998 after New Delhi did nuclear tests.
Both countries has cooperated each other in different areas like defense, space, and civil nuclear and security issues along with strong cultural ties. This will be fifth time that a French leader will be a chief guest at Republic Day celebrations.
