Ford cut downs the price of its sedan Ford Classic by as much as Rs 70,000 to Rs 1 Lakh. The step is to meet the competition created by popular cars like Honda Amaze and Maruti Dzire.
Classic will start from Rs 4.49 lakh and the top model will be priced around Rs 7.6 lakh.
The American car giant Ford has repositioned Classic and Fiesta sedan in 2012.
This implies that Classic will now compete with Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and other new sub-4 metre sedan cars from Tata and Hyundai.
Mr. Vinay Piparsania, the executive director of marketing, sales and service at Ford India, while speaking about the company’s policy mentioned, “At Ford India, we are committed to deliver on customer expectations by continuous improvements in the value proposition of our products. Ford India has repositioned the Classic starting at Rs 4.99 lakh by optimizing efficiencies. The repositioning will make the Classic an even more compelling offer by further enhancing the ownership experience.”
According to experts, the chances of repositioning of Fiesta can also be on the cards. The new improvised Fiesta will compete with Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento. Though quite successful globally, Fiesta failed to become hot favorite in India. In 2013, the sales of Fiesta were less than Audi A4, Mercedes Benz C Class and BMW 3 Series that was reported to have sold approximately 4,000 units.
A drop of 30 percent was noted in the sales of Fiesta from 2012 when it sold 2,180 units to 2013 where merely 1,450 units were dispensed.
