Director Ram Gopal Varma is well known person in Bollywood. He has directed many intense movies and many of them were blockbusters too. Yesterday, when every woman was celebrating women’s day in their own way. Many B-town celebrities took to their social media account just to wish the same. And Ram Gopal Varma too tweeted on the special day but his tweet became controversial and an FIR is now lodged against the director Ram Gopal Varma. Ram Gopal Varma in his tweet expressed his desire to have all the women give as much happiness as Sunny Leone gives.
Well, this kind of tweet was not expected from the director and of course his action has destroyed his image as well. It evoked a harsh response, especially from his female Twitter followers who dubbed his tweet as extremely rude, especially as he chose to post it on a day when womanhood is celebrated around the globe. Ram Gopal Varma’s tweet has hurt the sentiments of women. However, it seems that actress Sunny Leone did not take offence to the tweet as she replied to it with wink and tongue-out emoticons.

Well, initially we thought that actress Sunny Leone will take a stand but she too gave opposite reaction. When she was asked about the extreme reaction of the tweet, she said, “That’s not a dig. He is a friend. He is making a joke. In good humor. Not everything is controversial.” Thus, she took Varma’s tweet in good way. While she may be confident about Varma’s intentions, some feminist groups are not.
Police complaint filed against director Ram Gopal Varma
Pratiksha Korgaonkar, State Organiser, Women’s Branch of Hindi Janjagruti, filed a police complaint in Goa against the filmmaker. According to reports, she alleged that Varma had a malicious intention in his remark as it was just to gain cheap popularity at the expense of indecent representation of women.
She alleged that Varma’s tweet is objectionable and is intended to defame ordinary women. She requested the police that a case be made against Varma under “cyber law for victimisation of women” under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. She has also put forward her request to block his Twitter account permanently.
