A look at types of famous Banarasi sarees

Benares is a city in India where specialists create traditional clothing, silks and saris called Banarasi silk sarees. Fine, luxurious and regal are words that are said about silk more than anything else because, at least this one’s automatic response. Banarasi sarees can be seen in every bride’s attire, and she wears it on her special day.

Katan

The Katan saree is made from handwoven silk fabric with an overall bathroom towels for sale-liquid-and-soft feel that effortlessly gives the feel of juices or oil being poured on it. These Banarasi silk saris are one of the lightest types and require an extremely delicate step of weaving as they involve a complicated process of weaving fine silk on a plain silk made of very thin plain silk threads that are almost like nets.This sari then is teamed with the sheen it derives from the silk yarns and then sets the tone with the color and print being added to it.

Banarasi Khadi georgette/chiffon

A shear weightless crepe material called georgette is named after the late 19th century French dress maker. Georgette, was originally silkworn, has twisted yarns weaved into its later process which is the georgette fabric. This is a fabric with a wrinkled surface, that makes the warp and weft yarns alternate and gives the fabric an additional wrinkle after winding these yarns. Chanderi

Chanderi Banarasi silk is also known as Sico which is made in the best quality of silks woven in cotton in the weft. It represents the individual who is capable of twofold emotions: smoothness and indestructibility, and since it is also characterized by an elite and affluent appearance. In the 12th and 13th centuries, Chanderi Banarasi’s sarees were made as summer outfits, that’s why they are made of pure cotton which keeps the user cool undoubtedly.

Tussar Banarasi

There is a type of silk known as Tussar, which are also called Ghicha or Kosa in Sanskrit, and this silk comes from larvae of different moth species that are from within the silkworm family. Whilst these silkworms live in the wild and in the trees are carried scattered by fungi and insects on plants; Shorea robusta is on Jamun and Oak plants. They primarily inhabit trees in the southwestern of India and eat the leaves of the trees themselves.
